Day Two-Helloooo Zimbabwe!
We Arrived at JNB at 11:00am and bored our final flight to Zimbabwe! Our first day in Zimbabwe was absolutely phenomenal! We arrived here in the beautiful capital of Harare, Zimbabwe at the Harare International Airport at 2:10 p.m. All of us being regular travelers we used our frequent flyer miles to receive incredible discounts on our enjoyable flight. When we arrived, we were fortunate that there was no big language barrier; we could speak with the locals and pick up our rental car with ease. We were immediately welcomed with smiling faces as we entered a familiar atmosphere, the local Bronte Hotel. Driving there was quite a comical, yet frightening experience with Dan at the wheel. The streets are narrow, crowded, and there are not many strict road rules that are followed by the locals, so we were relieved when we made it to the hotel in one piece. After freshening up, we traveled back deep into the city exploring some great shopping from street vendors! We then traveled to the Ramambo Lodge and enjoyed an exotic Zimbabwe meal consit of onions, cayenne pepper, green bell papers, tomatoes, chicken, peanut butter, and spinach. This is known as Dovi or peanut butter stew. The majority of us actually enjoyed this exotic meal. To top the meal off, we also enjoyed a fruit smoothie. The people serving us were quite a joy because of how friendly and helpful they were with ordering. The food was very different but incredibly delicious! This would be the first of many memorable meals in Zimbabwe. After finishing our meal we went back out into the city. We walked past a couple of protests outside the city hall and some men playing the drums. There were very few lights still on as we headed back to our hotel. Zimbabwe was beautiful and we were all thrilled about tomorrow's activities!
